LIMPOPO — Law enforcement officials in the Waterberg District have executed a rapid arrest following a Marikana Village fatal stabbing that left a 26-year-old man dead. A 23-year-old male suspect is now in custody after a targeted manhunt concluded just hours after the deadly altercation at a local tuckshop.
The incident unfolded on Tuesday, 25 August 2026, at approximately 09:08, when Villa Nora police were dispatched to a tuckshop in Marikana Village following reports of a violent dispute. Upon arrival, responding officers discovered the 26-year-old victim collapsed on the establishment’s stoop. He had sustained a severe, deep stab wound to the left side of his chest and was visibly gasping for air.
Emergency Medical Services (EMS) personnel were urgently summoned to the scene. Despite their immediate efforts to administer life-saving medical assistance, the victim tragically succumbed to his injuries.
Early investigative findings indicate that the victim was attacked with a sharp object by a male acquaintance during an altercation at the venue. Detectives promptly registered a formal murder case and launched an intensive, large-scale manhunt to track down the individual responsible.
The focused search yielded results within a matter of hours. Officers successfully located and detained the 23-year-old suspect within Marikana Village, simultaneously recovering the alleged weapon used in the attack.
