Well-Known Traditional Healer Sentenced to Eight Years Imprisonment for Rape

BURGERSFORT – The Burgersfort Regional Court sentenced 49-year-old Daniel Masinga, a well-known traditional healer, to eight years in prison for rape on Monday, 15 June 2026.

The case was investigated by the Burgersfort Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences (FCS) Unit. Led by Sergeant Letsatsi Mojalefa, the investigation gathered sufficient evidence to secure the conviction.

Masinga was initially released on bail in 2020 but absconded after failing to appear in court, resulting in the issuance of an arrest warrant. He was re-arrested in December 2025 and remained remanded in custody pending his sentencing.
