San Antonio — Authorities are investigating after a body was found near Mission Espada on the city’s South Side Tuesday afternoon.
The body was discovered just after 3 p.m. on Tuesday in a wooded area along Espada Road near Loop 410, close to Mission Espada Park. Video from the scene showed crime scene tape cordoning off the location as officials responded.
San Antonio police officials confirmed the discovery to reporters at the scene but have not yet released additional details, including the identity of the deceased or the circumstances surrounding the death. A death investigation is underway, with input expected from the Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Office.
As of late Tuesday, police were still gathering information, and no further updates on the cause or manner of death were immediately available.
