South Fulton Authorities Investigate Fatal Shooting at Strip Mall Near Fairburn and Cascade Roads

Authorities in South Fulton are investigating a homicide after a woman was shot and killed at a strip mall near the intersection of Fairburn and Cascade Roads.

The incident occurred around 10:30 a.m. this morning, according to police. Witnesses and workers in the area reported that the victim’s car had been parked in the shopping plaza since approximately 8:30 a.m., suggesting she may have been waiting for someone.

Surveillance video from one of the businesses captured the victim’s vehicle in the parking lot. The footage reportedly shows a white minivan pulling up and parking next to the victim’s car for a few seconds before driving away.

Investigators remained on scene earlier in the day but had cleared the area within the last 20 minutes prior to the latest update, leaving no active crime scene visible. At this time, authorities have not announced the capture of a suspect.

A co-worker of the victim arrived at the scene after receiving calls about the incident and recognized the car. She expressed deep sorrow over the loss.

“I’m hurt. I’m really hurt. Oh, why would someone do this? She’s such a pretty young lady that has so much going for herself,” the co-worker said. “She planned on going back to school. She was taking care of her son. I love to hear the stories about what her and her son did for the weekend, and I was so happy for her. She got a promotion. Yeah, very unfortunate. Very unfortunate for her as well as all of these employees and business owners that were in the area.”

The victim’s name has not been released, as authorities have not yet received confirmation from the medical examiner’s office.

South Fulton police continue to investigate the shooting. No additional details about a possible motive or suspect description were available at the time of the latest reporting.
