US Lawmaker: Iran’s Oil Crisis Gives Trump a Strategic Opening

With the United States reportedly bombing two port cities in Iran, Rep. Pat Fallon, R-Texas, argued that the Islamic Republic is already racing against a hidden clock — one that gives President Donald Trump significant leverage if he chooses to use it.

Fallon explained that Iran’s oil industry is nearing a breaking point due to dwindling storage capacity. “The clock is ticking in so much as their oil industry,” he said. Unlike other industries, oil production cannot simply be turned off. “If they stop producing, it’s going to damage their wells, and they’ll only produce 20-25% in the future going forward. That would be catastrophic for the economy of Iran.”

The congressman urged Trump to draw a firm “line in the sand” and present Iran with a clear set of demands. Citing former Speaker Newt Gingrich, Fallon said the deal must require Iran to hand over roughly half a ton of its nuclear material, promise never to export ballistic missile technology or sponsor terror, and keep the Straits of Hormuz open for international commerce.

Fallon accused Tehran of deliberately stalling. “The Iran strategy is to delay, delay, delay to get weaker Democrats back in so they can play them and just stall,” he said, adding that the regime has continued “killing their own people and terrorizing the region and the world.”

A Harvard-Harris poll cited during the interview found that a supermajority of Americans back all of Trump’s demands regarding Iran. Nearly eight out of ten voters also said Iran must stop executing its people. According to reports, Iran has executed 600 people since January.

“How can anybody in the media or the Democrats think that terror regime that gouges women’s eyes out and rapes the women to death by the score should have a nuclear bomb?” the interviewer asked.

Fallon responded by noting that for 47 years, the Iranian regime has conducted asymmetrical warfare against the United States and the West. “These are thugs. They’re murderers,” he said, adding that over 40,000 people were killed during protests earlier this year. “You can’t believe them. It is a trust but verify. The president should get tough, and if the United States stays united, this regime will fall.”
