San Antonio police responded to a welfare check request on Donaldson Avenue yesterday afternoon, only to discover the body of a 44-year-old woman who had been shot to death inside the home.
According to police, the call came in just after 12:30 p.m. The homeowner had requested the welfare check on a roommate after a relative informed him of a possible shooting at the residence.
Officers arrived at the scene and found the woman deceased from gunshot wounds. The victim has not been identified at this time, and police have not named any suspects.
This incident marks the second homicide investigation launched by SAPD in just two days, following another welfare check that also turned into a death investigation.
Investigators remain on scene as they work to determine the circumstances surrounding the shooting. No further details about the victim or potential suspects have been released.
