A coordinated multi-unit operation culminated in the arrest of three suspects and the recovery of a stolen vehicle and property following an armed robbery in Koppies on Wednesday.
The successful operation was conducted by members of the Sasolburg Highway Relief, the Trio Task Team, Sasolburg Public Order Policing (POP), Sasolburg Detectives, and other stakeholders.
According to police reports, the incident began when authorities received information about an armed robbery in Koppies at approximately 1:47 PM on Wednesday, 12 November 2025. During the robbery, the perpetrators stole personal property and a white Nissan Micra valued at approximately R145,000.
The stolen vehicle was later identified travelling along the R59 highway towards Sasolburg. This sighting prompted a high-speed chase as police units moved to intercept the suspects.
In an attempt to evade capture, the suspects turned onto a gravel road before abandoning the Nissan Micra and fleeing on foot into nearby bushes.
The pursuit, however, was swiftly concluded with the aid of modern technology. Utilizing a drone, law enforcement located and apprehended one suspect near the abandoned stolen vehicle. The remaining two suspects, aged between 34 and 52, were arrested shortly thereafter.
Police confirmed the successful recovery of the stolen Nissan Micra, all stolen property from the robbery, and an unlicensed firearm. All items have been confiscated for further investigation.

The three suspects are expected to appear before the Parys Magistrate’s Court in the near future to face charges of armed robbery and possession of an unlicensed firearm.
