A 43-year-old man was arrested on Friday, 12 December 2025, at Ha-Mashau village in the Vhembe District for possession of a suspected stolen vehicle.
The arrest followed a joint operation by Levubu Detectives, Waterval police, the Thohoyandou Vehicle Identification Safeguarding Unit (VIS), the Vhembe Flying Squad, and the Ṱhohoyaṋdou Tracing Task Team. Police acted on information about a silver grey BMW X5 SUV stolen the previous week from the Waterval policing area.
The vehicle was found parked in the suspect’s yard. He failed to produce authentic documents or a satisfactory account of its ownership.
The BMW X5, valued at R460,000, was seized. The suspect will appear in the Waterval Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 15 December 2025, facing a charge of possession of a suspected stolen motor vehicle. Police investigations are continuing.
