On 14 December 2025, a 47-year-old foreign national was arrested for drug possession and suspected trafficking following a joint police operation.
The Hawks’ Serious Organised Crime Investigation (SOCI) unit in Bloemfontein acted on information about a suspected drug laboratory operator in Botshabelo. Together with the Flying Squad, they intercepted the suspect’s white Volkswagen Polo hatchback on the N8 road between Botshabelo and Bloemfontein.
A search of the vehicle revealed suspected crystal methamphetamine, CAT, and cocaine concealed inside the removable car radio. The drugs have an estimated street value of R387,800.
