The Parkweg Tracing and Intervention Unit arrested five suspects, aged 25 to 70, within an hour of a business robbery in Westdene, Bloemfontein, on Wednesday.
The robbery occurred at 14:00 on 17 December 2025. Four suspects entered a foreign-owned business. One armed suspect forced the owner and two customers into a back room at gunpoint. The other suspects took an undisclosed amount of cash and cigarettes.
A shot was fired before the suspects fled in a red Toyota Corolla. No one was injured.
Police located the vehicle in the Bloemfontein CBD, intercepted it, and arrested the five male occupants. A 9mm firearm with live ammunition was seized.
The suspects face charges of business robbery and possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition. They will appear in the Bloemfontein Magistrate’s Court soon. The vehicle and firearm are held for forensic investigation.
