Police arrested a suspect for possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition at a liquor outlet in Ga-Motodi Village on Sunday.
The arrest occurred at approximately 17:30. Members of the Tubatse Detective Unit’s Tracing Team, acting on intelligence about a person displaying a firearm at the outlet, located the suspect at the scene.
After police identified themselves, the suspect led them to his silver Opel Corsa and removed a pistol from the vehicle. He could not produce a firearm licence and stated he did not have one.
The firearm and ammunition were seized. The suspect is expected to appear in the local Magistrate’s Court soon.
