Afrika Tikkun in partnership with PLP launch The Dennegeur Contact CentreAfrika Tikkun in partnership with PLP

The Dennegeur Project was established to uplift and upskill the youth of Dennegeur and the greater Franschhoek communities.

Afrika Tikkun along with the Rupert Foundation identified a clear need for practical skills development among young people in the area, with the aim of addressing unemployment and reducing social challenges faced by the community.

In response to this need, a partnership was formed between the Rupert Foundation, Afrika Tikkun, and PLP. Afrika Tikkun led the training component of the project, beginning with Work Readiness, followed by Advanced Computer Literacy and specialised Contact Centre skills training. This structured training prepared participants both personally and professionally for the workplace.

PLP serves as the work placement arm of the partnership and has established a fully operational call centre in Franschhoek, based within the Dennegeur community.

Through this initiative, young people from previously disadvantaged backgrounds are trained, upskilled, and successfully developed into professional call centre agents. As a result, participants are able to secure sustainable employment, gain valuable work experience, and provide meaningful support for their families, contributing positively to the growth and stability of their community.
