Two men, aged 47 and 35, were arrested on the R549 in Deneysville for possession of illicit cigarettes during a Vehicle Check Point (VCP).
The operation was conducted by SAPS members from various stations in the Fezile Dabi District, in partnership with the Community Policing Forum (CPF). During the checkpoint, officers stopped a silver Toyota with two male occupants. A search of the vehicle revealed boxes of illicit cigarettes in the boot.
The cigarettes, estimated to be valued at R20,000, were confiscated along with the vehicle.
The two suspects are expected to appear soon in the Sasolburg Magistrate’s Court on charges of possession of illicit cigarettes.
