Suspect Flees Traffic Stop in Buckhead, Crashes at Busy Piedmont-Peachtree Intersection Before Arrest

ATLANTA, Georgia — A driver who fled from a traffic stop in the Buckhead area crashed into a busy intersection Friday evening, leading to a brief foot chase and the suspect’s arrest after being tased by troopers.

Parts of Piedmont Road were closed near the intersection with Peachtree Road following the crash, which occurred at a high-traffic location near Rooms To Go. Atlanta police shut down portions of the roadway as they responded to the scene.

According to law enforcement, the incident began as a traffic stop before the driver attempted to flee. The suspect continued evading authorities, resulting in a crash at the Piedmont and Peachtree Roads intersection. The driver then tried to run from troopers on foot.

Troopers deployed a taser to apprehend the suspect. No troopers were injured during the incident. The suspect sustained injuries and was taken into custody.

The crash tied up traffic in the busy Buckhead area as authorities worked to clear the scene and investigate.
