Six Arrested in Limpopo Following Intelligence-Led Operation Targeting Business Robberies

The Provincial Commissioner of Police in Limpopo, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, has acknowledged the Provincial Investigations Unit, the Tracking Team, and private security company Tshimollo Security and Investigation for their role in an operation that led to six arrests on Monday, 13 April 2026.

The operation was conducted in response to a series of business robberies occurring primarily on Sunday nights and Monday mornings across the province. On Monday, 13 April 2026, intelligence indicated that suspects were traveling in a blue BMW 3 Series with five occupants and were seen at the Lebowakgomo shopping complex. The operational team intercepted the vehicle at the location.

During a search of the vehicle, officers located housebreaking equipment, balaclavas, hand gloves, and stolen groceries. Preliminary investigation linked the occupants to a business burglary in the Apel policing area.

Five suspects, aged between 33 and 47, were arrested. Three suspects are South African males. Two suspects are Zimbabwean nationals who are in the country illegally. The blue BMW 3 Series was seized as an instrument used in the commission of a crime.

Further intelligence indicated that stolen items had been sold to local businessmen in Apel. Officers proceeded to the identified premises, where stock was recovered. A 44-year-old Bangladeshi national was arrested for possession of and receiving stolen goods under the General Law Amendment Act 62 of 1955. The suspect was also found to be in the country illegally, resulting in an additional charge of contravention of the Immigration Act.

The suspects are scheduled to appear before the Sekhukhune Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, 15 April 2026.
