Two men, aged 44 and 58, were arrested for drug possession in Bulfontein during operations conducted by the Welkom Anti-Gang Unit (AGU) in the Lejweleputswa District.
According to police, on Friday, May 22, 2026, Welkom AGU members were conducting crime-combating duties in the Phahameng location when they gathered information regarding criminal hot spots and illegal activities. The intelligence led them to a first address, where a search was carried out and a 58-year-old male was found in possession of suspected drugs. He was arrested on the spot.
Officers then proceeded to a second identified house. Following a search, a 44-year-old male suspect was also arrested for drug possession.
Police confiscated ziplock bags containing crystal meth, CAT drugs, mandrax tablets, and money believed to be proceeds of crime. The total estimated value of the seized drugs is approximately R12,000.
Both suspects are expected to appear soon before the Bulfontein Magistrate’s Court on charges of possession of suspected drugs.
