Seven individuals appeared before the Balfour Magistrate’s Court on May 26, 2026, facing charges of possession of suspected stolen goods and stock theft.
The accused are Sidwell Motsitsi (31), Thandanani Sokhele (33), Kholisile Majola (34), Jacob Motaung (35), Sechaba Mokoena (35), Madina Soetland (38), and Nkosinathi Simelane (39).
According to police reports, officers were conducting routine patrols near a farm in Balfour on May 25, 2026, when they stopped a white Toyota Quantum minibus for a search. Upon inspection, authorities discovered that the vehicle’s seats had been removed and that meat was being transported inside.
When questioned about the meat, the driver stated that he had been hired by the six other men, all from Duduza in Gauteng, to collect unspecified goods in Balfour.
All seven suspects, including the driver, were taken into custody at the scene and charged with possession of suspected stolen goods and stock theft.
The court has postponed the case to June 2, 2026, for a formal bail application. All seven remain in custody.
