FOUR TEENS KILLED, ONE CRITICALLY WOUNDED IN MOTHERWELL HOUSE SHOOTING

Police are investigating after four teenagers were fatally shot and a fifth male was injured in a mass shooting at a home in Motherwell on 27 May 2026.

The South African Police Service (SAPS) in Gqeberha confirmed that officers were alerted to the shooting at a house in Mnenga Street, NU10, at around 13:30. First responders arrived to find five males inside. Four were in the lounge with gunshot wounds to the head—two unresponsive and two gasping for breath. A fifth male was discovered unresponsive in the bedroom, also shot in the head.

Metro Emergency Medical Services declared three males dead at the scene. Paramedics attempted to revive a fourth victim, but he too succumbed to his injuries. The fifth injured male was rushed to a hospital for treatment.

All four deceased are males: two aged 18 and two aged 17. Their identities will be released once next-of-kin have been notified.

A murder case with four counts and an additional count of attempted murder has been registered at SAPS Motherwell. The SAPS Serious and Violent Crime Investigation (SVCI) Unit is leading the inquiry.

Authorities have not yet established a motive for the killings, and no suspects have been identified. No witnesses have come forward.
