Law enforcement officials apprehended a 40-year-old man on Sunday, 31 May 2026, after discovering him in possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition in the Msento Locality area of Centane.
The incident unfolded around midday when police officers conducting a routine patrol along Qolora Road noticed a man on foot carrying what appeared to be a shotgun. Upon being approached by officers, the individual attempted to escape. Police gave chase and successfully took the suspect into custody, recovering the illegal firearm and ammunition during the arrest.
The suspect faces charges of unlawful possession of an unlicensed firearm and unlawful possession of ammunition. He is set to make his first appearance in the Centane Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 01 June 2026.
