LIMPOPO — Police in Limpopo arrested a 44-year-old male suspect and seized dagga with an estimated street value exceeding R500,000.00 following an interception on Wednesday, 17 June 2026.
Acting on operational information and a tip-off, officers intercepted a silver grey Toyota Hilux bakkie matching a provided description at Steelbridge in Ga-Malekana village as it entered the Sekhukhune policing area.
With the driver’s permission, police searched the vehicle and discovered it was fully loaded with dagga packaged in black plastic bags. The seized substance weighed exactly 258.251 kg.
The driver failed to provide a satisfactory response regarding the origin of the dagga and was arrested on the spot for possession of the drug.
The 44-year-old suspect remains in custody and is expected to appear before the Sekhukhune Magistrate Court on Thursday, 18 June 2026, facing a charge of possession of dagga.
