LIMPOPO — The Nebo Magistrate’s Court in Limpopo sentenced 24-year-old Molatodi Malope Emmanuel to 16 years of direct imprisonment on Monday, 22 June 2026, for robbery with aggravating circumstances.
The conviction stems from an incident that occurred on Friday, 16 August 2024, at approximately 14:00 in Manganeng, Mathibeng Section. The accused confronted a 19-year-old female victim who was walking in the area. During the robbery, he threatened the victim with a knife, twisted her left arm, and struck her with a stone. He stole her wallet, which contained R2,100 in cash, a bank card, and an identity document, before fleeing the scene with her belongings.
A case was immediately opened at the Sekhukhune Police Station, leading to the suspect’s arrest at his residence at approximately 20:00 later that same day. Investigating officer Detective Sergeant Michael Mothapo successfully opposed the accused’s release on bail, ensuring he remained in custody throughout the trial until his conviction and sentencing.
In addition to the prison term, the court declared Emmanuel unfit to possess a firearm in terms of Section 103(2) of the Firearms Control Act 60 of 2000.
