*FREE STATE— The Free State Provincial Tracking Team arrested 30-year-old Dalixolo Ngamlani on Thursday, 24 June 2026, at approximately 11:00, concluding an eight-year manhunt.
Acting on intelligence regarding his whereabouts, the tracking team located Ngamlani at a local initiation school in Botshabelo. Upon arrival, officers found that the fugitive was actively employed as a teacher at the facility. He was arrested and detained on the scene.
Ngamlani had been officially circulated as a wanted suspect for over eight years in connection with a 2017 case in Kopanong. According to police, Ngamlani abducted his 28-year-old ex-girlfriend and held her captive in a shack in Phase 6 from 7 June 2017 to 11 June 2017. During this period, the victim was repeatedly raped and severely assaulted with a pole.
Following the arrest, further investigations and forensic profiling linked Ngamlani to a separate 2021 rape case involving a 24-year-old victim in Bloemspruit.
Ngamlani is scheduled to appear at the local Magistrate’s Court to face charges of kidnapping, assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm (GBH), and multiple counts of rape.
