GAUTENG – A major Boksburg crystal meth seizure was carried out by the Tshwane Flying Squad after officers acted on intelligence regarding narcotics hidden at a local self-storage facility. During the operation on 28 June 2026, police recovered a substantial quantity of the illicit substance, though the investigation into the owners remains active.
High-Value Narcotics Uncovered at Storage Complex
Following a tip-off about drugs being stashed in the East Rand municipality, specialized law enforcement personnel arrived at the targeted storage complex. After securing and opening the specific unit, a comprehensive search yielded four plastic packets filled with a substance suspected to be crystal methamphetamine.
The recovered drugs had a combined mass of 4.8 kilograms. Based on prevailing illicit market rates, the Tshwane Flying Squad estimates the street value of the confiscated cache to be approximately R160,000.00.
Probe Continues Without Arrests
Law enforcement officials confirmed that no suspects were apprehended at the storage facility during the raid. Detectives are continuing their inquiries to identify and track down those responsible for the stockpile, with the case docket remaining open for further investigation.
