Operation Lockdown III Yields Arrest in Ravensmead: Suspect Held for Gang-Linked Firearm and Drug Offenses

WESTERN CAPE – A targeted law enforcement sweep under Operation Lockdown III has resulted in the gang-related arrest of a 34-year-old male in Ravensmead, following the seizure of illegal narcotics and a prohibited firearm. The intelligence-led intervention underscores ongoing efforts by authorities to dismantle illicit networks and secure local communities.

According to a South African Police Service (SAPS) spokesperson, the operation unfolded on Sunday, 12 July 2026, at approximately 20:05. Acting on specific, credible intelligence pointing to active drug-dealing and firearm circulation at a residential property, officers executed a planned raid on a premises located on Daisy Street in the Uitsig area of Ravensmead.

A comprehensive and systematic search of the residence yielded a significant cache of contraband. Authorities successfully recovered a shotgun, nine individual sachets of tik, 31 half Mandrax tablets, and an undisclosed sum of cash. Consequently, the 34-year-old occupant was immediately taken into custody on charges of illegal drug dealing and possession of a prohibited firearm.

The SAPS spokesperson confirmed that the suspect is currently being held at the Ravensmead SAPS station. He is slated to make his first court appearance as soon as the formal charging process is completed, marking another successful, intelligence-driven intervention for Operation Lockdown III.
