Ivory Park Woman Arrested for Operating Liquor Outlet Under Invalid Shebeen Permit

Joint enforcement action by Provincial FLASH and SAPS officials leads to the closure of an Extension 10 establishment and the seizure of alcohol over Gauteng Liquor Act violations

GAUTENG – A 45-year-old Ivory Park woman was taken into custody on Tuesday, 14 July 2026, after authorities discovered she was running a liquor business using an invalid shebeen permit. The arrest underscores ongoing regulatory enforcement against violations of the Gauteng Liquor Act in the Ekurhuleni region.

The bust was executed through a collaborative effort between the Provincial FLASH (PHO) Liquor Control Team and the Ivory Park South African Police Service (SAPS) Designated Liquor Officer (DLO). Acting on a specific tip-off, officials conducted a targeted inspection at a liquor outlet situated in Extension 10, Ivory Park.

During the assessment, investigators determined that the establishment was actively conducting business under a shebeen permit that legally belonged to the property’s former owner, rather than the current operator.

As a direct result of this infraction, law enforcement officials immediately shut down the operation, seized all alcoholic beverages located on the premises, and placed the 45-year-old suspect under arrest.

The accused is scheduled to make an imminent appearance at the Tembisa Magistrate’s Court. She will face formal charges related to the contravention of Section 127(a) of the Gauteng Liquor Act, 2003 (Act 2 of 2003).
