KHAYELITSHA – A major Khayelitsha drug bust has resulted in the confiscation of illicit substances valued at R1.5 million, marking another significant step in the Western Cape police’s intensified campaign to eliminate narcotics from local neighborhoods.
The targeted raid was executed through a joint effort between the Anti-Economic Crime Task Team and the Provincial Counterfeit and Illicit Goods Policing Team. Acting on specific intelligence, law enforcement officers descended on a residential property along Raymond Mhlaba Crescent in Mandela Park at approximately 03:30 on Monday, 24 August 2026.
During a thorough search of the premises, authorities uncovered a substantial cache of illegal drugs. The seized contraband included exactly 7,777 Mandrax tablets alongside 1.6 kilograms of crystal meth. A 57-year-old female suspect found at the location was immediately taken into custody on suspicion of drug dealing.
Following her arrest, the suspect is pending formal charges. Law enforcement officials confirmed that she is scheduled to make her initial appearance at the Khayelitsha Magistrate’s Court to face the allegations.
This successful operation highlights the continued dedication of provincial law enforcement to dismantle local drug distribution networks, combat organized crime, and keep Western Cape communities safe.
