Fatal Shooting in Westbury: Gauteng Police Launch Manhunt After Scholar Transport Driver Killed

JOHANNESBURG – Gauteng police have launched a manhunt following a fatal shooting in Westbury, Johannesburg District, that claimed the life of a 53-year-old scholar transport driver on Monday morning.

Law enforcement officials reported receiving a complaint of a shooting incident at approximately 08:10. Upon arrival at the scene, officers discovered the 53-year-old victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. According to police representatives, the victim had just completed dropping off school children and was preparing to park his vehicle at a residential flat in Westbury when two unidentified men approached him and opened fire. Paramedics pronounced the victim dead at the scene.

The two suspects subsequently fled the area in a blue Volkswagen Polo. At this stage, the motive for the shooting remains unknown.

Sophiatown police officials have officially opened a case of murder. Authorities confirmed that no arrests have been made to date, and active police investigations are ongoing to apprehend the suspects and establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident.
