LIMPOPO – A 37-year-old Nigerian national is facing serious drug-related charges in Polokwane after an intelligence-driven police operation culminated in a high-speed chase and the seizure of approximately R50,000 worth of crystal meth and heroin.
On Monday, 14 September 2026, members of the Provincial Organised Crime Unit, in collaboration with Tzaneen Detectives, acted on credible intelligence regarding a 37-year-old Nigerian male suspect allegedly supplying narcotics in the Mankweng and Tzaneen precincts.
According to law enforcement officials, the intelligence indicated that the suspect frequently met with clients on Voortrekker Street in Polokwane and utilized a white Tata Indica motor vehicle to facilitate his operations. Police teams deployed to the area and successfully identified the vehicle at the specified location.
Upon attempting to pull the vehicle over, the suspect fled the scene, initiating a high-speed car chase. The pursuit concluded when the suspect was apprehended inside the yard of a residential property located at 37 Plein Street in Polokwane.
A subsequent search of the suspect and his vehicle yielded 345.4 grams of crystal meth and 211.5 grams of heroin. Authorities confirmed that the combined estimated street value of the seized narcotics is R50,000.
The 37-year-old male was immediately placed under arrest for dealing in and possession of illegal drugs. Representatives from the Provincial Organised Crime Unit confirmed that the suspect is scheduled to appear before the Polokwane Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday, 15 September 2026.
