Durable Farm Implements for Small-Scale Farmers: Landboupart Unveils Heavy-Duty Equipment Range in Sasolburg

SASOLBURG, FREE STATE — Small-scale and weekend farmers no longer have to settle for commodity-grade equipment. Landboupart, a leading agricultural supplier based in Sasolburg, is transforming the local market by offering a specialized range of durable farm implements for small-scale farmers. Designed to withstand rigorous use on smaller plots or “postage stamp” farms, this heavy-duty equipment ensures that every farmer can access reliable, long-lasting machinery without compromising on build quality or performance.

Danie van Aswegen of Landboupart explained that the company developed its own proprietary implement range to address a specific gap in the market. Unlike mass-produced, low-cost imports, every Landboupart implement is built for longevity and features a unique serial number. This allows the company to track exactly when the equipment was manufactured and to whom it was sold, ensuring complete accountability and traceability.

“Our market is focused on the small farmer and the weekend farmer. We went for higher quality, and we are no longer competing with cheap Eastern product ranges,” van Aswegen noted, emphasizing that the equipment is quite literally built to outlast its owners, much like the traditional two-furrow plows still found under trees on historic farms.

Providing technical expertise on the product line, Dewald Strydom detailed the robust construction of the equipment. The slasher range includes 1.2m, 1.5m, and 1.8m models, offering clients a choice of two or four blades driven by a 60 PTO. The domes are crafted from 8mm hardened steel with reinforced ribs to prevent twisting under heavy pressure. For farm road and firebreak maintenance, the company offers a 1.8m scraper with a 380mm high blade made from 10mm thick RX steel, featuring fully adjustable grading angles to suit specific client requirements. A 1.8m duck slasher is also available for effective firebreak creation.

The planting equipment is engineered for maize, soybeans, and sunflowers, available in two-, three-, and four-row configurations. Strydom highlighted that the planters come standard with maize plates capable of planting approximately 52,000 seeds per hectare. The units feature a fertilizer box with an auger, adjustable row widths ranging from 700mm to 1.1m, and individual row downforce adjustments to handle uneven terrain seamlessly. Blank plates are also included, allowing farmers to customize hole spacing for specific crop densities.

For soil preparation, Landboupart’s five-tine ripper can reach depths of up to 250mm and requires a tractor between 45kW and 80kW, depending on soil conditions. The disc implement range spans from 12 to 18 discs, with options for 22-inch or 24-inch discs. Notably, the company has upgraded from traditional cast iron bearings to heavy-duty sealed bearings, significantly reducing maintenance and increasing durability under heavy punishment. Additionally, a 1.8m single-row ridger with adjustable working widths (600mm to 900mm) and 26-inch heavy-duty thick discs is available, though Strydom noted it sells out rapidly due to high demand.

Looking ahead, Landboupart is expanding its inventory to include three- and four-disc plows, as well as four-tine roller harrows, with complete harrow wheels already in stock at the branch.

Farmers interested in purchasing these implements do not need to travel to Sasolburg directly. The company maintains a growing dealer network and can refer buyers to the nearest authorized agent in their specific area.
