Musical Festival Empowers Local Artists

Award-winning musician, Mthokozisi “DJ Tira” Khathi, in collaboration with Hollywoodbets, empowered local artists in KwaZulu-Natal as part of the Ogagwini Gumba Festival this past weekend.

Prior to the ultimate performance with various artists such as Khuzani, Mthandeni SK and others, the muso held a workshop with artists along panellists from Ukhozi FM, the South African Music Rights Organisation (SAMRO), Producer Prince Bulo, Spirit Banger from Njandini Records, and journalist Sandile Makhoba to equip emerging musicians with the necessary skillsets to thrive in the entertainment industry.

Artists were taught:

· How to register their song with SAMRO

· How to submit their song to radio

· How to start their own record company

· How to grow their brand

· How to manage artists

Aspiring artists also had an opportunity to share their demos with the present established entertainers who selected three artists to share the stage the following day as opening acts.

Menzi Ngocobo, Senior Sponsorship Co-ordinator at Hollywoodbets, said, “When DJ Tira and his team approached us to sponsor this event at Ogagwini, we didn’t think twice because it coincides with our belief in accessibility; whether it be in sports, education or even entertainment.”
