Fast facts about the iCAUR 03T

The iCAUR 03T introduces a new fully electric SUV offering to the South African market, combining distinctive design, generous standard equipment, and a choice of rear-wheel drive or all-wheel-drive powertrains. The 03T is aimed at buyers looking for electric mobility with everyday practicality, advanced technology, and a bold SUV character.

Exterior design

The 03T has a distinctive visual identity, blending rugged SUV cues with a clean, modern design language. Its upright stance, squared-off bodywork, and pronounced wheel arches create a strong and purposeful profile, while slim lighting elements and smooth surfacing give the vehicle a contemporary, high-tech appearance.

Under the retro skin is a unique all-aluminium multi-cavity cage body. This construction contributes to corrosion resistance for up to 30 years, while reducing overall weight by 30% and lowering energy consumption by 3%.

LED head- and taillights are fitted as standard, and a panoramic glass roof adds to the open, airy feel of the cabin. Both the 2WD and AWD derivatives ride on 19-inch alloy wheels fitted with 245/55 tyres.

Five exterior colours are available: Khaki White, Carbon Crystal Black, Cyan Grey, Starlight Silver, and Toronto Red.

Performance and efficiency

The iCAUR 03T range consists of two fully electric derivatives: 2WD and AWD.

The 2WD uses a single electric motor mounted on its rear axle and is powered by a 65.69 kWh battery. It produces 135 kW and 220 N.m of torque, reaches 100 km/h from standstill in 10.5 seconds, and has a top speed of 150 km/h.

The 03T AWD adds a second electric motor and a larger 69.77 kWh battery. With combined outputs of 205 kW and 385 N.m, it reduces the 0-100 km/h time to 6.5 seconds, while top speed remains limited to 150 km/h.

Driving range is rated at 431 km for the 2WD and 436 km for the AWD (on the NEDC cycle). Energy consumption is listed at 18.3 kWh/100 km for the 2WD and 19.9 kWh/100 km for the AWD.

Both variants support DC fast charging, allowing the battery to charge from 10-80% in just 30 minutes, while also offering 3.3 kW vehicle-to-load (V2L) functionality for powering external devices.

The 2WD derivative offers four selectable drive modes: Eco, Normal, Sport, and Custom. The AWD model expands this to nine, adding Slippery, Beach, Muddy, Bumpy, and All-Road Mode. A MacPherson front suspension and rear multi-link setup support ride comfort and stability, while braking is handled by ventilated front discs and rear discs.

Practicality

The 03T offers a spacious five-seat cabin supported by a 2,715 mm wheelbase, giving occupants generous room across both rows. Boot capacity is rated at 450 litres, increasing to 1,238 litres when the 60:40 split-folding rear backrest is lowered. An additional 40-litre rear storage box provides further space for smaller items, improving day-to-day usability.

Interior and comfort features

Inside, the 03T combines a practical layout with a high level of specification. The cabin is trimmed in black leather upholstery and includes climate control, front-row ambient lighting, and electrically adjustable front seats with heating and ventilation.

On the 2WD derivative, the driver’s seat includes power-operated four-way lumbar adjustment. The AWD model adds front-seat message functionality and an electrically adjustable leg rest for the front passenger, giving the range-topping derivative even more luxury.

Technology

Technology is centred around a 15.6-inch touchscreen infotainment display, which integrates key vehicle and media functions. Bluetooth, wireless Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto are standard across the range. The 2WD model is equipped with an eight-speaker iCAUR audio system, while the AWD derivative gains a 12-speaker Infinity sound system.

Voice command functionality is also included, allowing selected vehicle functions to be controlled without the driver needing to take their hands off the steering wheel. Both derivatives are fitted with three USB ports, one USB Type-C port, and a 50-watt wireless smartphone charger.

Safety

The 03T is equipped with a broad range of active and passive safety systems. Standard passive safety equipment includes six airbags, made up of dual front, front side, and side curtain airbags, as well as ISOFIX child-seat anchorage points.

Both derivatives also feature Electronic Stability Programme (ESP), traction control, Emergency Brake Assist (EBA), front and rear parking sensors, and a 540-degree surround-view camera system. Advanced Driver Assistance Systems fitted to the 03T include:

  • Automatic Emergency Braking with Vehicle, Pedestrian and Bicycle Recognition
  •  Adaptive Cruise Control
  • Traffic Jam Assist
  • Lane Departure Warning and Prevention
  • Lane-Keep Assist
  • Blind Spot Detection
