FREE STATE — Law enforcement officials have secured a major breakthrough in a devastating Bultfontein child murder case, apprehending a 29-year-old male suspect in connection with the rape and killing of a 7-year-old girl. The arrest follows the heartbreaking discovery of the minor’s body concealed beneath a bed in a Phahameng residence.
The tragedy came to light on Sunday, 9 August 2026, due to the harrowing observation of the victim’s 14-year-old sister. Police spokesperson Captain Loraine Earle confirmed that the teenager noticed a hand protruding from underneath a bed inside a backyard shack. She immediately ran to the property’s main house to alert her father, prompting the family to contact the authorities.
