Double Life Sentence for Seshego Rape: Ex-Boyfriend Jailed in Limpopo

LIMPOPO — A 32-year-old man has been handed a double life sentence in a Seshego rape case after being convicted of attacking his 26-year-old ex-girlfriend in the Ga-Ramphela village. The severe sentencing follows a brutal two-day ordeal in July 2025 that took place in the presence of the victim’s minor children.

According to court proceedings, the incident began on July 26, 2025, at approximately 18:00. The accused forcibly entered the victim’s residence in Moletjie and dragged her into a bedroom, where he raped her while her two young children watched. The assault continued the following day, July 27, 2025, at around 13:00. While the children were at school, the perpetrator subjected the victim to multiple additional rapes before a case was officially opened at the local police station.

The investigation was subsequently handed over to the Seshego Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences (FCS) Unit. Constable Vinolia Mudau was assigned to the matter. Through her investigative efforts, the suspect was successfully tracked and arrested. He was denied bail throughout his numerous court appearances.

On November 6, 2026, the court found the accused guilty and handed down two life terms for the rape charges.

Lieutenant General Jan Scheepers, the Provincial Commissioner of Limpopo, publicly welcomed the verdict and commended the outstanding investigative work displayed by Constable Mudau.

“This double life sentence is a suitable punishment for such a cruel and degrading act committed in front of innocent children,” Lieutenant General Scheepers stated.

He emphasized that the ruling reaffirms the police service’s commitment to combating gender-based violence (GBV) and ensuring that such perpetrators are permanently removed from society. Lieutenant General Scheepers concluded by deeply commending Constable Mudau for her dedication and professionalism in ensuring justice for the victim.
