ELDORADO PARK, GAUTENG — In the wake of a violent Eldorado Park armed robbery, local law enforcement has arrested five suspects connected to the attack on an e-hailing driver. The swift investigative response by local police units resulted in the apprehension of the crew who attempted to hijack the driver’s vehicle and steal his personal belongings.
The incident unfolded on Tuesday, 27 October 2026, at approximately 11:00. The 20-year-old victim was operating a white Toyota Etios and had responded to a ride request to pick up a passenger on Maine Street in Eldorado Park Extension 7.
Upon arriving at the location, a female suspect flagged down the vehicle and took a seat in the front passenger section, instructing the driver to wait for her brothers. Shortly after, two male suspects approached and entered the car.
Once the second male suspect was inside the vehicle, one of the individuals engaged the car’s handbrake to prevent an escape. The group then forcefully robbed the young driver, making off with an undisclosed amount of cash, his driver’s licence, identity document, and bank cards. During the ordeal, a fourth suspect who was standing outside the vehicle fired a gunshot and demanded the driver’s mobile phone. Despite the intimidation, the suspects ultimately fled the scene without taking the phone.
Acting on operational intelligence, members of the Eldorado Park Crime Intelligence, Detectives, and Visible Policing (VISPOL) tracked down the perpetrators. Officers successfully arrested five suspects, whose ages range from 15 to 21.
According to spokespersons for Eldorado Park Crime Intelligence, Detectives, and Visible Policing (VISPOL), the rapid arrests were a direct result of prompt investigative work and follow-up on operational information.
All five accused individuals are currently in police custody and are expected to appear in court soon to face charges related to armed robbery and firearm offences.
