KHAYELITSHA – A Khayelitsha armed robbery suspect was taken into custody on Wednesday, 26 August 2026, after a coordinated law enforcement raid uncovered illegal weapons and suspected stolen goods.
The 24-year-old man was apprehended at his residence in the Eyadini informal settlement. Officials from the Makhaza Anti-Hijacking Team and Harare Crime Intelligence confirmed that the arrest stemmed from a collaborative, intelligence-driven operation targeting a wave of violent street robberies and carjackings across the Makhaza and Harare districts.
Acting on specific tips linking the individual to the recent crimes, officers tracked the man to his home and executed a search of the property. During the sweep, authorities successfully recovered two imitation firearms alongside items believed to be stolen from previous criminal incidents.
Law enforcement representatives noted that the suspect is currently being processed by authorities. Once formal charges are finalized, he is scheduled to make his first appearance at the Khayelitsha Magistrate’s Court.
