LIMPOPO — Authorities have launched a massive manhunt following a fatal shooting and house robbery in Ga-Thoka village, as the South African Police Service (SAPS) actively investigates the murder of a 44-year-old man.
The incident occurred at approximately 23:15 on Saturday, 19 September 2026. The victim was asleep at his residence with his 40-year-old wife when they detected unusual movement in the sitting room. Upon investigating the noise, the deceased reportedly encountered unknown male suspects inside the home. He immediately retreated to the bedroom and attempted to secure the door.
During the ensuing confrontation, the suspects allegedly attempted to force their way into the bedroom. As the deceased tried to hold the door shut, the intruders fired two shots through the door. The bullets struck the man in the left side of the chest, causing him to collapse.
Following the initial shooting, the victim’s wife moved to check on their children in an adjacent bedroom. While she was inside, the suspects fired two additional shots toward the children’s bedroom and another shot into the bathroom before fleeing the scene. After the suspects departed, the wife discovered that a 55-inch smart television, valued at R9,000, had been stolen from the residence.
Emergency Medical Services (EMS) personnel were dispatched to the location and certified the man dead upon their arrival. The suspects remain unidentified at this stage, and a massive manhunt is currently underway to apprehend them.
