
An intelligence-driven operation conducted by the South African Police Service (SAPS) resulted in the arrest of a 33-year-old man and the seizure of illicit drugs with an estimated street value of R150,000.
On Monday, 01 June 2026, at approximately 22:00, the Sarah Baartman District Crime Intelligence Unit, in collaboration with the Sarah Baartman District Intervention Team, executed a search warrant at a targeted premises on Mhlonyane Street in Kwanomzamo, Humansdorp.
Upon arrival, police presented the search warrant to the 33-year-old owner of the premises before conducting a thorough search of the property. During the operation, officers discovered 835 full Mandrax tablets, 207.54 grams of tik (methamphetamine), and 93.72 grams of cocaine concealed within furniture items throughout the residence.
All confiscated substances, with a combined estimated street value of one hundred and fifty thousand rand (R150,000-00), were seized as evidence. The suspect was arrested on charges of dealing in drugs and remains in police custody. He is scheduled to appear before the Humansdorp Magistrate’s Court in the near future.
Acting Sarah Baartman District Commissioner, Brigadier Abdoerahgmaan Humphries, commended the investigative teams for their professional execution of the intelligence-led operation.
“This successful intervention demonstrates SAPS’s commitment to disrupting illicit drug distribution networks,” Brigadier Humphries stated. “We warn drug syndicates operating within the district that we will continue to act aggressively to dismantle these criminal structures and protect our communities.”
The Sarah Baartman District SAPS has reiterated its call for community members to report suspicious activities related to drug trafficking through official channels, emphasizing that public cooperation remains vital to sustained law enforcement success.
