LIMPOPO — A major Saselamani police drug arrest took place on Thursday, October 29, 2026, resulting in the seizure of narcotics with an estimated street value of R53,000. A 28-year-old man is now facing drug dealing charges following a targeted operation in the Mhinga Ville area.
Acting on intelligence regarding alleged drug trafficking in the region, officers from the Saselamani Police Station collaborated with the Malamulele Police and the Thohoyandou K9 Unit. The joint tactical team proceeded to a residential property in Mhinga Ville. Upon arrival, they encountered a 28-year-old man who identified himself as the owner of the premises.
A subsequent search of the property yielded significant quantities of illegal substances. Officers first uncovered a black plastic bag containing dagga packaged in smaller transparent wraps, with an estimated street value of R3,000. The search was then extended inside the house, where a blue plastic bag containing three bricks of crystal meth was discovered. The crystal meth alone carries an estimated street value of R50,000.
A spokesperson for the Saselamani Police confirmed the seizure, noting that all confiscated drugs were impounded as evidence. Following the discovery, the 28-year-old suspect was immediately taken into custody and formally charged with dealing in drugs.
The accused is scheduled to make his first appearance at the Saselamani Magistrate’s Court on Monday, November 2, 2026. Meanwhile, the police spokesperson indicated that investigations into the matter are ongoing as authorities work to determine if the suspect is linked to a broader distribution network.
