SASSA Revises November 2026 Social Grant Payment Dates Ahead of Local Government Elections

SOUTH AFRICA – The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) has officially revised its November 2026 social grant payment dates to ensure secure and efficient disbursement ahead of the Local Government Elections scheduled for 4 November.

Under the newly approved schedule, older persons will be the first to receive their grants, with payments commencing on Friday, 30 October. Disability grants will follow on Monday, 2 November, and child support grants will be disbursed on Tuesday, 3 November.

Additionally, Thursday, 5 November, has been specifically designated for beneficiaries whose grants are currently undergoing the review process.

A SASSA spokesperson confirmed that the revised payment dates were established following comprehensive consultations with various stakeholders. The adjustments are designed to guarantee that grant payments continue to be administered efficiently and securely during the election period. The revised schedule has also received formal approval from the National Treasury, paving the way for immediate implementation.

“SASSA remains committed to ensuring that eligible beneficiaries receive their grants in an orderly and reliable manner,” the agency stated.

To facilitate a smooth process, the agency has urged beneficiaries whose grants are under review to promptly respond to official communication and attend their scheduled review appointments when requested.

Furthermore, SASSA has cautioned beneficiaries against rushing to local SASSA offices unnecessarily, emphasizing that all payments will be processed systematically according to the announced schedule.

The agency continues to encourage the public to rely exclusively on SASSA’s official communication channels for accurate updates. This measure is intended to help beneficiaries guard against misinformation and disinformation regarding social grants.

Ultimately, these revised arrangements are aimed at safeguarding the integrity of the social assistance system while ensuring uninterrupted access to vital financial support for the millions of South Africans who depend on it.
