Stepfather Arrested for Murder of Three-Year-Old

SENWABARWANA — A 24-year-old man has been arrested for the murder of his three-year-old stepchild following an extensive investigation into the toddler’s death.

The incident occurred on April 25, 2026, at a rental residence in Dilaeneng Millennium Park, Tlhahla Village, within the Senwabarwana policing precinct.

Police were initially summoned to the residence after reports that the child had died in his sleep. Upon arriving at the scene, officers observed visible bruises on the child’s body. Emergency medical personnel certified the child dead at the scene, and police subsequently opened an inquest docket.

Preliminary investigations indicated that the child had been assaulted prior to his death. The body was transported to a local forensic pathology facility for a post-mortem examination, which revealed that the cause of death was blunt force trauma to the head.

Following these findings, investigators gathered crucial witness statements and additional evidence linking the suspect to the assault. An arrest warrant was obtained, and the suspect—the child’s stepfather—was apprehended on Friday, June 19, 2026.

Limpopo Provincial Police Commissioner Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe commended the investigating officers for their dedication and persistence in securing justice for vulnerable members of society.

The suspect is scheduled to appear before the Senwabarwana Magistrate’s Court on Monday, June 22, 2026. Police investigations into the matter remain ongoing.
