ELDORADO PARK — An alleged suspect was arrested on Thursday, 11 June 2026, for the possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition following a targeted operation.

Members of the Eldorado Park Crime Prevention Unit, alongside Gauteng Traffic Wardens, received Crime Intelligence-driven information at approximately 20:00. The intelligence reported that an unknown male, suspected of possessing an unlicensed firearm and ammunition, was standing at a bus stop on Boundary Road in Eldorado Park Extension 9, opposite a liquor shop.

Upon arriving at the location, officers identified an individual matching the exact description provided. When the suspect noticed the police vehicle, he attempted to flee into the Kersiedorp Section but was intercepted by the team.

Following a search conducted with the suspect’s permission, officers recovered a black 9mm Norico firearm and ammunition from his waist. As the suspect failed to produce a valid license to possess a firearm, he was arrested for possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.

The accused is scheduled to appear in court soon, while police investigations into the matter remain ongoing.
