MOTHIBISTAD — Law enforcement officials have taken ten individuals into custody in connection with the Kago Moshole N14 murder, following the discovery of the 19-year-old’s body adjacent to the highway near Ganhaai Village on Monday, 24 August 2026. Mothibistad South African Police Service (SAPS) detectives spearheaded the intensive operation that resulted in these apprehensions.
The arrested group consists of nine men, ranging in age from 30 to 40, and one 35-year-old woman. Authorities confirmed that nine of the individuals originate from Kagung, while the remaining suspect resides in Ganhaai.
During the execution of the warrants, investigators confiscated a Toyota GD-6 vehicle suspected of being utilized during the commission of the offenses. The successful outcome of the operation was significantly bolstered by the specialized support of the Kuruman K9 Unit, who worked in tandem with the Mothibistad detectives to track and secure the suspects.
In addition to the primary murder charge, the detainees are being held on allegations of kidnapping and attempted murder. Police noted that the group allegedly assaulted an additional individual, who is presently undergoing medical treatment for their injuries.
Acting District Commissioner Brigadier Kenneth Baloyi publicly acknowledged the vital role of the local community, emphasizing that resident tips were instrumental in advancing the investigation. He further commended the seamless collaboration among all operational teams, which accelerated the investigative progress and facilitated the swift arrests.
The probe remains active, and investigators have indicated that additional arrests are possible as they continue to piece together the full sequence of events surrounding the murder, kidnapping, and attempted murder.
