Western Cape Police Seize R900,000 in Drugs and Arrest Two in Mfuleni

MFULENI — Western Cape police confiscated illegal drugs valued at R900,000 and arrested two suspects during an intelligence-led operation on Wednesday, June 24, 2026.

The Anti-Economic Crime Task Team, in collaboration with the Counterfeit and Illicit Goods Policing Team, conducted a search at a premises on Minstrel Street at approximately 04:30.

During the operation, authorities recovered 433.16 grams of crystal meth, two sachets of crack cocaine, 13.71 grams of mandrax powder, four mandrax tablets, and 6.693 grams of ecstasy. Police also seized a modified imitation firearm and an undisclosed amount of cash.

A 51-year-old man and his 29-year-old girlfriend were arrested at the scene. They are facing charges of drug possession and dealing, as well as possession of a prohibited firearm.

The suspects are scheduled to appear at the Blue Downs Magistrate’s Court once formally charged.
