Drone Aids Cibolo Police in Quick Arrest of Stolen Vehicle Suspect

CIBOLO, Texas — A stolen vehicle alert from a Flock camera prompted a swift police response in Cibolo that ended with the arrest of a suspect, aided by drone technology for real-time tracking.

Authorities said the incident began when a Flock camera flagged a stolen car traveling through the city. Officers responded and located the vehicle. When they attempted to stop the driver, he fled, sparking a short vehicle pursuit. The chase was safely called off shortly afterward.

Moments later, the suspect crashed the vehicle and fled on foot. Officers then deployed a department drone, which provided an aerial view to track the suspect in real time as he hid in a backyard and attempted to escape by jumping a fence. With continuous aerial support and updates from the drone operator, officers closed in and arrested the suspect.

Police identified the suspect, a man from from Converse. He faces charges of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and evading arrest with a vehicle. The stolen car was confirmed to have originated from Converse.

A Cibolo police spokesperson highlighted the role of modern technology in the response, stating that tools such as license plate readers like Flock Safety cameras and drones help officers respond faster, enhance situational awareness, and improve safety for both law enforcement and the community.

The incident underscores how such technology assists police in locating suspects quickly and bringing pursuits to a safe resolution.
