Members of the HAWKS’ Serious Commercial Crime Investigation unit, specifically the Intellectual Property Rights section based at Head Office, together with brand-holders, executed a search and seizure warrant at a warehouse in Luipaardsvlei, Krugersdorp, west of Johannesburg, on the morning of [Date of Operation].
The intelligence-driven operation was initiated after the team received information through a law firm indicating that a specific company in Luipaardsvlei was selling counterfeit Hypertherm products using a concealment method.
During the execution of the warrant, investigators seized 3,236 units of counterfeit industrial welding accessories. The seized items, which include electrodes, water tubes, shields, and packaging, are valued at over one million rand.
The seized goods have been taken for further investigation.
