FREE STATE – Authorities have executed a significant Harrismith murder arrest, taking 29-year-old Sizwe Tsotetsi into custody for the alleged murder of his cousin, Mbayise Elliot Radebe. The fatal incident, which stemmed from a domestic dispute over stolen belongings, has now resulted in formal charges and an upcoming judicial proceeding.
Tsotetsi was apprehended by local law enforcement on Wednesday, 22 July 2026. He was subsequently charged with murder and made his first appearance at the Harrismith Magistrate’s Court the following day, Thursday, 23 July 2026. During the brief session, the matter was postponed to 29 July 2026 to facilitate a formal bail application.
According to a police spokesperson, the tragic events unfolded a week earlier on Wednesday, 15 July 2026, at approximately 19:00. Officers were dispatched to a residence in Polani Extension 4, Intabazwe, near Harrismith, following urgent reports of a homicide. Upon entering the premises, investigators discovered Radebe’s body in a bedroom. The victim had suffered severe physical trauma, presenting with head injuries, widespread bruising, and noticeable facial swelling.
Early investigative findings suggest the violence was triggered by an accusation of theft. The spokesperson noted that Tsotetsi allegedly attacked his relative after claiming the victim had stolen his personal property. Following the official opening of a murder docket, detectives intensified their efforts, successfully tracking down and apprehending the suspect to face justice.
The investigation remains active as authorities prepare the case file for the scheduled bail hearing later this month.
