56-Year-Old Suspect Arrested in Double Murder of Zimbabwean Businessman and Friend Outside Polokwane

Limpopo Provincial Murder and Robbery Unit apprehends suspect in Gauteng following intensive investigation into the August 2025 killings.

LIMPOPO – A 56-year-old suspect has been arrested in connection with the double murder of a 37-year-old Zimbabwean businessman and his 27-year-old friend outside Polokwane, authorities confirmed.

According to a spokesperson for the Limpopo Provincial Murder and Robbery Unit, the events leading to the tragedy began on 17 August 2025. The two victims had traveled to Dendron to purchase stock, which included liquor and live chickens. While traveling along the R521 public road toward Marowe village, the men were allegedly kidnapped by four unknown male suspects driving a white Toyota Avanza.

The victims’ bakkie, still loaded with the purchased stock, was later discovered abandoned in Moletjie, Ga-Semenya village, located outside Polokwane.

On 18 August 2025, the bodies of the two men were discovered with gunshot wounds along a gravel road adjacent to the R37 public road, within the Westenburg policing area.

A double murder case was initially opened at the Westenburg Police Station and subsequently transferred to the Provincial Murder and Robbery Unit for advanced investigation.

Following lengthy and intensive investigative work, police successfully traced and apprehended the 56-year-old male suspect in Diepkloof, Gauteng Province. The suspect is directly linked to two counts of murder.

The suspect is scheduled to appear at the Polokwane Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 27 July 2026. Police investigations into the matter remain ongoing.
