The South African Police Service (SAPS) in Huhudi took the suspect into custody following the violent altercation, which unfolded in the Pholarpark area on the afternoon of Friday, 31 July 2026.
Upon responding to the initial emergency complaint, law enforcement officers discovered the 32-year-old victim suffering from extensive burn injuries across her upper body. Preliminary reports indicate she was experiencing intense pain and was physically unable to speak at the time of the police intervention.
Emergency Medical Services (EMS) were urgently dispatched to the location. The injured woman was promptly transported to a nearby medical facility, where she was formally admitted to receive critical treatment for her burns.
The apprehended suspect is scheduled to make her first court appearance at the Vryburg Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 3 August 2026, where she will formally face charges of attempted murder.
Addressing the severity of the assault, North West Provincial Commissioner Lt Gen Arthur Adams issued a strong condemnation of the event. He appealed to the public to handle conflicts through peaceful means, stressing that no argument warrants violent behavior that endangers human life.
Additionally, Lt Gen Adams praised the rapid intervention of the attending police officers. He affirmed the department’s ongoing dedication to ensuring that perpetrators of violent offenses are successfully prosecuted and held fully accountable within the justice system.
