Johannesburg, South Africa – 10 September 2026: For many emerging entrepreneurs, having a strong business idea is only the beginning. Turning that idea into a sustainable business often requires access to the right support, resources, expertise and opportunities to grow.
From mentorship and business guidance to funding, technology and reliable infrastructure, practical support can play an important role in helping entrepreneurs move from simply having an idea to building a business with the potential to grow.
To help address this need, John Craig has launched The Entrepreneur Edit, a national platform focused on supporting and recognising South Africa’s emerging entrepreneurs and the ambition behind the businesses they are building.
The initiative is centred on the belief that entrepreneurial support should extend beyond simply identifying promising business ideas. By creating access to mentorship, industry expertise and practical business resources, The Entrepreneur Edit aims to give emerging entrepreneurs an opportunity to strengthen their businesses and take meaningful steps towards their growth ambitions.
“The Entrepreneur Edit is a platform that tangibly demonstrates our commitment to supporting the next generation of South African entrepreneurs and addressing some of the challenges that start-up business owners face every day. Through mentorship, expertise and practical support, we want to help emerging entrepreneurs strengthen their businesses and take the next step in their journey,” says Siyanda Masina, Digital Brand Manager at John Craig.
At the heart of The Entrepreneur Edit is an opportunity for emerging entrepreneurs to have their business journeys recognised while gaining exposure to mentorship and business development support from established South African business leaders and industry experts. The Top 10 finalist will get an exclusive one-day mentorship from business mogul like Sheldon Tatchell owner and founder of Legends Barbershop, Mark Sham founder of suits and sneakers, and Bulelani Balabala founder of Township Entrepreneur alliance (TEA).
The initiative will also culminate in a winner receiving an Entrepreneur Edit Business Office Hub worth R200 000, designed to provide practical resources that can help take an emerging business to the next level.
The package includes a business office or shop setup, cash injection, fibre internet and a 12-month subscription, two business computers, a point-of-sale system, backup power, office furniture and a John Craig clothing voucher.
The value of this support goes beyond the individual items. For a growing entrepreneur, having access to a professional business space, reliable connectivity, technology, backup power and funding can help address some of the everyday challenges that can stand in the way of business development.
Through The Entrepreneur Edit, John Craig is therefore creating an opportunity to put tangible support behind entrepreneurial ambition, recognising that the journey of building a business requires more than a good idea. It requires the resources, knowledge and confidence to turn that idea into action.
The initiative forms part of John Craig’s engagement with the next generation of South African entrepreneurs, creating a platform that places ambition, business development and personal growth at the centre of the conversation.
Entrepreneurs are invited to participate in The Entrepreneur Edit for an opportunity to have their business journey recognised and stand a chance to receive support that could help take their business to the next level.
