Same Heart, Stronger Future: Greenwood Bay College Joins Pinnacle Colleges

From 1 January 2027, Greenwood Bay College will be known as Pinnacle College Greenwood Bay.

Greenwood Bay College has announced an exciting new chapter that will strengthen its identity, expand opportunities for students and position the school for long-term success, while preserving the caring community that families know and value.

Effective 1 January 2027, the school will officially become Pinnacle College Greenwood Bay, joining the respected Pinnacle Colleges brand within the Advtech Schools Division.

The decision follows an extensive strategic review that considered the school’s long-term direction, educational landscape and future opportunities, ensuring Greenwood Bay College is well positioned to continue serving families for many years to come.

Greenwood Bay College has long been recognised for its caring environment, strong academic purpose, committed teachers and close-knit community. These qualities will remain central to the school as it moves forward under its new name.

School leadership believes the transition will establish a clearer value proposition, strengthen the school’s position in the independent education sector and support its long-term sustainability.

“This new chapter is about building on everything that already makes Greenwood Bay College special,” says Mr Albert Pienaar, Executive Head. “Our relationships, traditions, values and culture of care will always remain at the heart of our school. Becoming Pinnacle College Greenwood Bay allows us to build on those strengths while opening new opportunities for our students, our staff and our wider community.”

As independent education continues to evolve, families are looking for more than academic excellence alone. They seek schools with a clear identity, a consistent educational experience and meaningful preparation for a rapidly changing world.

The transition creates stronger pathways to shared educational expertise, innovative teaching practices and the resources of one of South Africa’s leading independent school groups.

Pinnacle Colleges has established a reputation for strong academic foundations, innovation, future-focused learning and holistic student development. Its approach equips students with the knowledge, confidence and adaptable skills needed to succeed at school and beyond.

Shared priorities between Greenwood Bay College and Pinnacle Colleges include academic excellence, individual student development and a supportive school experience shaped by care and belonging.

“This transition is not about leaving our identity behind,” school leadership adds. “It gives us the opportunity to amplify what works, strengthen what needs attention and connect our school to an established educational brand that shares our ambitions.”

Pinnacle College Greenwood Bay will retain the relationships, traditions and community spirit that have shaped the school over many years. Students will continue to benefit from dedicated teachers and an environment in which they are known, supported and encouraged to reach their potential.

Preparations for the transition will begin on 1 August 2026. Regular communication and further engagement opportunities will help ensure a smooth and positive experience for students, families and staff.

The new name signals progress, but the heart of the school remains unchanged. Pinnacle College Greenwood Bay will continue to be a place where students belong, teachers care and every young person is empowered to build a confident future.
